Reflecting on 2024 as a year that brought the birth of NLEMA as the community spoke and we listened! Our board grew from a mere three (3) trustees to seven (7) in a short period of time, this proves that our community are hungry for change and involvement in the plight to better represent the individuals that form the demographics of a diverse community. Our societies are changing for the positive and we are always welcoming newcomers looking to settle in North Lanarkshire.
This moment marked more than the formation of an organisation — it signalled the rise of a collective voice determined to shape a more inclusive, representative, and connected future. NLEMA was created by the community, for the community, rooted in the belief that real progress happens when people are not only heard, but actively involved in the decisions that affect their lives.
The rapid growth of our board is a testament to the passion, trust, and commitment that exists within North Lanarkshire. Each trustee brings lived experience, fresh perspectives, and a shared purpose: to champion equity, representation, and opportunity for all. This momentum reflects a community that is engaged, empowered, and ready to take ownership of its future.
North Lanarkshire is evolving — culturally, socially, and economically — and this evolution is something to celebrate. As our communities become richer in diversity, NLEMA stands as a platform for collaboration, dialogue, and action. We are committed to strengthening community ties, supporting integration, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, feels a sense of belonging.
As we look ahead, NLEMA remains open, accessible, and forward-thinking. We welcome those newly arriving, those returning, and those who have long called North Lanarkshire home. Together, we will continue to listen, learn, and lead — building a stronger, more inclusive North Lanarkshire where every voice matters.
