Combining cultures – MAY 2025

NLEMA seeks to improve access to extra-curricular activities that advance beyond mainstream schooling therefore, our aim to provide services featured around the growing concern of cultural awareness in community development and the social blocks that prevent progressive community relationships has prompted us to better our understanding of diversity.

With feedback from our members and an overall consensus of the committee, we have decided to provide an 8-week programme that children and adults of all ages, religions and backgrounds can attend. The combining cultures project will offer 3 individual forms of education – distributed in a fun and enjoyable way. These 3 subjects are as follows: Theatre, Art & Cultural studies. Each individual will have the chance to produce their own interpretation of the subject by engaging in stage performance, script writing, drama workshop games and a final performance – written and produced by all participants involved. The Art project will consist of self-expressive works whilst learning about ethnic artists that have contributed to the world of Art.

A gallery show will complete the course work of the attendees.

The cultural studies course will allow individuals to explore the journeys of migration and the wonders of rich cultural histories. Age-appropriate material will be delivered in a fun and fashionable manner. End of course project will feature a public show of works produced by all participants.
The combining cultures projects start date is Saturday the 3rd may and runs every Saturday until the 28th June. For info email: info@nlema.co.uk
